1 Month Well Check

We made the journey to Greenville (about an hour drive from where we live) to visit Chase's pediatrician. He is totally worth the drive! It was Chase's well check and also the day of his circumcision. It's official...Chase is HUGE. He weighs 13 pounds 8 ounces (he's gained a pound a week since he was born) and is 22.5 inches long. He is in the 98th percentile for weight and 70th for height. Must be all that tasty breast milk! Not even his big brother can compete with that weight gain (Colby weighed less than 11 pounds at his 1 month well check!)
Here you have a good view of his double chin...
This is a picture of me shortly after I was born (Thanks Rose!), I do see a few similarities!

Here you can see my balding baby, sad! I loved that dark hair while it lasted! You can also see Chase's nice round tummy!Colby was so good during the long appointment thanks to snacks and...
...Daddy's entertainment of course!

Twinkies

Jason doesn't like the boys to match but since he was at work today I dressed them like twinkies (thanks to the super cute outfits that Hayley gave us). Sadly this is the last time Chase will be able to wear his outfit, his legs are too long! I can't believe he's already outgrown newborn sized clothes!

Kisses for tired brother
Colby thinks picture time is really fun (Chase is not so sure!)
Chase with his eyes open, such a big boy!

Chase is 1 Month Old!

Chase is 1 Month Old Today!
Here are a few pictures I snapped of him. He has gotten a tad bit less fussy (Thank you God!) which has been very nice. He is even smiling a little bit, I was fortunate enough to catch one of those smiles on film...
He is losing those chicken legs and definately has a nice round tummy. You can see he's a good eater by that double chin he's sporting!

He enjoys bath time now. The key is getting him in BEFORE he gets fussy. If I wait to long and put him in when he's already crying it just puts him in an even worse mood. He has very pretty blue eyes for now, it will be interesting to see how they change as he gets older.
I'm very sad to write that he is losing that beautiful dark hair. AHHHHHH! Is there a way I can glue it back on? I'm sure I'll end up with two blondies but it was nice while it lasted!

Chase and Daddy Time...

Here are a few quiet moments with Chase and Daddy...
(I have a picture of Jason and Colby exactly like this!)
One of the weird positions that Chase is comfortable in...

Sure doesn't look that comfortable!

Two Boys...

I thought it would be interesting to post some pictures of the boys at the same age for comparison. I haven't quite decided if they look alike yet...

Baby Feet

I just couldn't resist the opportunity to photograph some adorable baby feet. I have such good boys who cooperated during the photo session too! Here are a few of the pictures...

Colby (who is fascinated by Chase) was pointing to Chase's feet...
Colby has cankles just like his mommy!

The things we do...

Chase, like every baby, has fussy periods and he is VERY loud. I have tried EVERYTHING from swaddling, nursing, walking, cuddling, bouncing, swinging, shushing to get him to stop and nothing seems to work except for this...I lay him over my lap and than gently pat on his back and booty like a percussion drum set and...miraculously...he stops!
Here is what his face looks like during the jam session...My conclusion...newborns are weird.

More Brother Pictures...

I will probably be posting TONS of these as time goes on. I just love pictures of the two of them together! Here Colby is giving Chase a kiss...
Chase is just chillin' while big brother thinks picture time is GREAT!
You can see Chase's bright blue eyes in this picture (and his big double chin) I'm not sure how long they'll stay blue but they sure are pretty!
Colby has grown an aversion to socks and takes them off of himself immediately after they're put on, he also takes them off of Chase. So instead of putting socks on boys twice I find myself putting them on over and over again!
Chase looks so handsome in his new Halloween onsie from Aunty Mindy!

The beloved bouncy seat...

Who would have thought we could STILL be getting use out of this bouncy seat for Colby! We brought it back out for Chase but Colby decided he wanted to test it out. He LOVED it! He sat in that thing like it was a lazy boy recliner, completely mesmerized. (sorry this picture is facing the wrong way, our computer is too slow and won't let me rotate it)
He was completely zoned out, I wanted to take a picture from the side so you could see...we have clearly exceeded the weight limit!

Killin' Time...

We had to kill some time in Greenville while Daddy's suit was being altered so we went to the mall and had some ice cream. As you can see...this made Colby VERY happy!

Visit from Grandpa!

Jason's dad was able to stop by to meet Chase and spend some quality time with Colby. It has been so nice to have an extra set of helping hands...

Snuggles for brother! (check out Chase's rolls in his thighs, chicken legs no longer!)Colby is pointing out brother's nose...

Just Colby...

Colby looked so handsome in his scary Halloween shirt...
I had to include a full body pic to show off his awesome big kid shoes

Suska showed Colby the joys of kitchen utensils while she was here so when I am in the kitchen Colby thinks he needs to help by making some music with all of our kitchen tools! Maybe culinary school is in his future!

Our Boys...

Chase has only been in our family for 2 weeks and yet there is already such a special bond between Colby and him. It is really spectacular to witness. Colby LOVES giving kisses and snuggles to Chase. He will just do it out of the blue - reach out for Chase and gesture to hold him. I really didn't think he would be that interested in him. God is good though and knew that Chase was somehow just what Colby needed. Chase also seems to be bonding to Colby. If he is crying Colby will lean on him and he will stop. He is a little bit of a fussy baby but he never fusses when Colby is snuggling with him, even if Colby is in his bubble or not being very gentle. It is amazing to witness and everyday I'm realizing that this little surprise baby was very much part of God's plan for our family.

Visit from Suska!

We were blessed to have my mom come out shortly after Chase's arrival. She was hoping to be here for the main event but we weren't expecting he would come right on his due date! So she arrived when he was 3 days old. It was so incredibly wonderful to have her here. She made us a bunch of meals including a bunch of treats and spent a ton of time with Colby (aka: spoiling him rotten!) We miss her already!

Reading to Colby, one of the few times he allowed her to read something other than 'Snappy Little Bugs' (the pop up book that Aunty Mindy gave him that our whole family has memorized because he LOVES it!)

A typical pose from Colby when being held by Suska, he realized quickly that she would take him wherever he pointed (the reason he won't be talking until he's 7) so he directed her around the entire 8 days she was here.
I miss you mom! And I love you!
