Special Delivery...Love, Rose

We just love Rose! She is one of my mom's dearest friends and someone I have always adored. She spoiled me rotten as a little girl and continues the cycle with my boys. Her packages are always a highlight! Here are a few pictures of Colby opening his birthday package. Thank you Rose! We love you!

Happy 3rd Birthday Colby!

It's hard to believe that three years ago Colby was just 8 pounds 4 ounces and 19 inches long. At his well check he was 40 pounds and 40 inches!

I remember when they whisked him to the NICU immediately after he was born. It was one of the scariest days of both Jason and my life. Fortunately after 24 hours they gave him a clean bill of health and we got to take him home!

He has been nothing but a blessing to us since the day he was born.

We can't wait to see what God's plans are for him, we know it is something special!

I can't get enough of those dimples.

Colby loves Birthdays!!

This was the celebration with Daddy the night before Colby's birthday. Daddy had to work the next evening but wanted to be a part of the cake celebration so we had two!

Chasey just couldn't wait any longer, he decided to climb up on the table to check it out himself!

Present TIME!

Investigating the bubbles

This was the birthday evening celebration with Suka, Dan Dan, Ty Ty, Mommy, Chasey, Anna, Noah and Bobbie (Daddy had to work that night)

To Colby: We love you, you make our lives full of happiness. Your sweet affectionate personality is a blessing everyday. We love to watch how you cautiously explore the world and quietly make your place within it. You are so observant and a quick learner. We love you so very much!
Now that Colby is Three...
Some of his likes: Trains (it is more of an obsession), Thomas is his favorite. He also loves his Piggy stuffed animal (the one that goes with the book, When you give a pig a pancake). He takes her everywhere and loves to be tucked in with her at night and naps. He loves kitties and of course his dog, Bauer. He likes to eat pizza and chicken nuglets (nuggets), he is a sweets lover and makes the most out of cookies and chocolate, he also loves fruit snacks. yogurt and watermelon. His favorite restaurant is Chick-A-Le (Chick Fil A) and he is still crazy about Dan Dan. He loves to sing and enjoys going to preschool. His best friend is Chasey. His favorite color is blue and his favorite number is 8. At bedtime he likes to sing his special song, say prayers and stall by having me sing as many songs as he can come up with.
Dislikes: Chicken (anyway mommy cooks it except if it's chicken nuglets), tomatoes and strawberries. He doesn't like to share with his brother but will with anyone else in the world.
Speech: His preschool teachers had an emergency meeting with me because they were concerned Colby couldn't speak. While he talks in paragraphs at home he has never said more than two words a day at preschool (they also told me he is too passive, giving others the toys he's playing with rather than holding his own and continuing to play with it - I on the other hand do not think that is a problem at all! He can certainly hold his own with his brother!). So while he's very shy at school and gym daycare he talks non-stop at home. He can sing his ABC's, Twinkle Twinkle, and Mary Had a Little Lamb are some of his favorite songs. He can recognize all of his letters and knows what noise they make. He has started saying, "Hey mommy, guess what..." He knows all of his classmates names at preschool, knows the name of the street we live on and almost has my phone number memorized.
Motor: He is still 'Cautious Colby' in ever sense of the word but he has started climbing the tower and going down our slide on his own! He loves to run "fast like Dash" and loves to jump too. He is a sports nut (I wonder where he gets that!) and while golf (gof) is his favorite he still loves basketball and football and baseball as well. He has recently shown an interest in lacrosse as well.
Potty Training: I think he is more ready for it than I am. On days I remind him to go he does fine but if I don't say anything and he is wearing a diaper he is still happy to go in his diaper. He will pee or poo on the potty on demand though and I'm sure if I was a little more motivated he would have it down in no time. I'm not there yet, I still prefer to choose when I change him rather than rush him to the nearest restroom every half hour. I'm kind of stalling and hoping I can just get Chasey trained at the same time, I'll give another update in a year or so :D
That's Colby Joshua in a nutshell. He is becoming a little person and has a three year old  'tude (everyone that warned me it was worse than 2 was right!) at the same time it is exciting to see his individual personality emerge and get to know him even better.

Colby and Ty Ty

Tyler is very much a teenager now, he is busy with middle school, football, hunting and 4 wheeling, but when we do get to see him he always goes out of his way to play with the boys.

Brother Love

There were a few months when the boys got along ALL of the time, now that they're getting a little older we're starting to see them fight a little more (trading Chasey for a toy that Colby wants no longer works, sharing is a four letter word these days). But overall they really do love each other and here is some evidence of that!

Chasey and Bauer

Having a puppy has been nothing short of a challenge and I call my mom every other day asking her what I was thinking but overall he's been an incredible addition to our family. The boys absolutely adore him and he is amazing with them as well. There will be many more moments that I'm asking myself what we were thinking but a thousand more that I am thankful for this incredible animal who has taught me so much about being a dog owner and has been nothing but a buddy to our little boys.

Cool Dude

Checkin' out the tools...

Getting ready to cruise...

Chillin' and checkin' for chicks...
Chasey found Daddy's hat in the garage. As soon as he placed it on his head he was transformed into a cool dude and immediately began to play the part...Ladies, beware!

Way to start a morning...

This morning Chasey and Bauer got the day started out right, with a baba and some nuggles (snuggles).

Cousin Time...

Chasey, Caleb and Colby

My cousin Melissa and her son, Caleb came to Denver to visit! They live in Texas and we miss them so much! Caleb fits right in with the Weber crew, he's into cars and trains which makes him a VIP in this house. The boys had a blast playing together. We wish we could do this all the time! (poor Chasey, his bug bites were itching him so much so I tried a baking soda paste to see if that would help. The result...baking soda all over my carpet and a kid that looks dirty in my pictures! We won't be doing that again!)

Paparazzi Mommy

Here Colby is standing with one of his teachers watching the kids come down the slide.

Chasey wanted to play with the kids too! Here Colby was climbing up to come see us.

Colby was chatting with us for a few minutes but when they asked the kids to line up he was right there, what a good boy! Already learning the rules on his very first day!
Yes, I was that creepy mom that showed up 10 minutes early to snap some pictures of my kid on the playground like he was a celebrity child and I was the paparazzi. I can't help it! I can't resist a good photo op.

Chasey and Mommy Time...

All of this one on one time wears a fella out!

Chasey loves 'Sun' his bear!

I made him take his paci out for a picture, he thinks that is a fun game.
It wasn't until Colby was getting ready to start school that I realized I had never really had one on one time with Chasey for anything other than doctor appointments. On our first day we went to Costco, not only was I amazed at how easy errands are to run with one kid but it was so fun to spend quality time with Chasey. He absolutely loves it too. Now Tues. and Thurs. mornings have become very special. We will often run errands, go to the library, the gym, the pool or even just stay home. It is great for Colby to get that time at school with his friends and teachers and great for Chasey to get that special time with me.
