Chasey is 14 Months Old!

I wanted to post an update on Chasey Bear before he turned 15 months old. I'll be adding pictures later. Here are a few things that are new and exciting with Chasey...
Motor - He is now attempting to WALK up and down stairs (something I find amazing since Colby rarely even tries that NOW!), he walks everywhere and doesn't crawl at all anymore. He can stand up on his own too. He has mastered crawling inside and out of the fisher price car and can also navigate his way into laundry baskets and tupperwares.
Speech - He uses a few signs (when he wants to, he is much more reluctant to sign than Colby was. At first I thought he didn't know them but usually he'll whine and when he doesn't get what he wants he'll start to frantically sign - that little booger) He knows so many words! I am floored everytime he says something. Colby was much older when he started to talk. I was holding Chase on Thanksgiving and heard him saying, "baba" and I thought it was just baby babbling until I looked at him and realized he was desperately reaching for his bottle. Now that I'm more aware of the fact that he CAN talk here are a few of the words he is saying...Mama, Dada, Baba, Nana (banana), Papa (something Jerry is VERY proud of), More, Moon, Eat, Hot. Here are a few of the signs he'll do (when HE wants to)...please, more, all done.
Likes - Chasey LOVES anything his brother is doing. They are a little tag team that now keep Jason and I VERY busy. His favorite thing to do right now is rip as many ornaments off of the tree as he can before I come stomping over to yell at him (and as soon as I do that he runs away as fast as he can, giggling while he goes! This is why we call him, little booger!) He loves playing with his cell phone (a demo model they gave to the boys while we were at Verizon the other day), he loves playing with the changers, opening drawers and climbing in (even drawers I would never think of him getting in to he'll try and cry when he can't get in), taking out all of the clothes from his dresser, dancing (he has some moves too! He'll do a head bob, a booty shake and even a pelvic thrust, I can't wait to get him into break dancing classes!), taking any empty bottle or cup and yelling into it to hear the echo, taking baths, reading stories (and unfortunately, tearing books, something we're having to work on). He loves to snuggle and just melts into me when I sing to him but he is still a very active and independent little boy. He is VERY loud (something I'll admit he gets from me!), he is outgoing and fearless. He is such a fun little boy who keeps us on our toes. He also loves his paci!
Food - He is a little bit of a picky eater. He gets thrown off by textures and likes whatever he's eating to all be the SAME texture (ie: no baked potato soup with chunks of potatoes in it, makes him gag when he gets a potato bite and he spits it right out), he loves grapes, crasins and bananas. Also loves cottage cheese, ice cream and cheerios. He doesn't like tomatoes (both of my boys hate them, I think they think they are going to taste sweet because they look like fruit and are totally grossed out when they don't). He loves milk. Nowadays we're going through about 2 1/2 gallons a week between the two boys. Thank you Royal Crest!!!
Size - He is wearing 12 month onsies, 18 month clothes and size 4 diapers (although we should probably move to 5's since we're starting to get a little plumbers crack!). He is probably around 27 or 28 pounds.

Thanksgiving Music...

My mom had us over for Thanksgiving and it was a lot of fun. The weather was beautiful and as usual, the boys had a blast at "Suka's" house. Cousin Bella was kind enough to give the boys a piano lesson and there was beautiful music for everyone's Thanksgiving enjoyment! Colby was apparently inherited the 'tongue sticking out to help with concentration' gene that I inherited from Aunty Cindy. As you can see he had to concentrate quite hard on the drumming. Chase discovered his talent for playing the recorder, I was quite impressed to see he could master the playing while walking technique which will come in quite handy if he ever plans on joining marching band!

Bubble Bath...

Colby is always excited about the idea of having a bubble bath but when they're actually in the tub with him he does not like it at all, as you can see in the picture he has scooted all the bubbles on Chasey's side. Fortunately Chase loves bubbles. When Colby accidentally gets some on his face or hands he'll whine until I've rinsed them off, Chase on the other hand will put his face right down in the bubbles on purpose and than laugh. Two very different boys!

Chasey Loves Garland!

I know, the garland is a strangulation hazard but he was carefully supervised while playing with it! I should have taken warning with his interest in the garland, ever since I put it up it's been a struggle because Chase keeps trying to take it down! He just loves those red beads!

Colby's new caveman look...

We were admiring my friend, Stacey's, pictures of her son, Landon, who is a big fan of the caveman look. After seeing the pictures Colby decided he wanted to try it too - he did this all on his own! I was laughing so hard I could barely take pictures. Colby thought he was quite the cool dude!

Snuggle Time with Daddy...

Life with two very active little boys does not involve much snuggling time therefore we have to maximize it when it does happen. Here is a rare moment that was captured on film...

The Powder Obession...

A few months ago the boys had a terrible diaper rash and my friend, Angie, suggested we try baby powder. There began the obsession. Colby asks for powder every time I change him, he also wants me to put some on Chasey. Jason is convinced it must feel pretty amazing and has asked me to powder him so he can find out (which has and never will happen!).

What a boy...

Colby discovered his nostrils and how perfectly his finger fits inside...Nice...

Christmas Decorations!

The first year Jason and I were married we spent Christmas in North Carolina. I barely put up any decorations because I was so sad to be away from home. The second Christmas we were in Colorado so we put up the tree and a few other things but not much. Last Christmas we were in transition, living at Bob's house out of suitcases. So this Christmas I am going all out. It feels like our first Christmas because we actually have stockings up, our ornaments out. Opening the boxes felt like opening up Christmas presents. And to see the boys excitement with it all has been so fun. I was ready to put up decorations the week after Halloween but because of Jason I had to wait until last week. The boys had a blast! Here are a few pictures...

Breakdancing Lesson 101

Anyone who knows me knows that as soon as I found out Colby was a boy I made plans to enroll him in breakdancing classes. Chase apparently got the message and was trying out a few new moves in preperation. He even started a little lesson for Colby....

Snowy Sunday...

We had the second pretty good snow of the season this last weekend and we decided to let the boys get a little taste of Colorado winters. Of course by the time I got Chase all bundled up he wasn't able to move so he just layed on the floor and cried. (In one picture you'll see Colby laying with him, what a nice empathetic brother!! Of course he leaned down to empathize and ended up falling over and he couldn't get up either! It was quite a laughable moment!). It was pretty windy and really cold and Chasey hated wearing all the snow gear so he really didn't enjoy it very much. Colby did pretty good. He LOVED shoveling but after 15 minutes or so he was too cold and didn't put up a fuss when it was time to come in! Overall I've learned that it takes 4 times as long to get the boys bundled up into snow gear as the time we actually spend outside. I think I'll just wait till they're potty trained to try that again! :D Just kidding!

The Rocking Horse That Never Gets Old...

My mom saved the rocking horse she got for me when I was a little girl. The boys have now discovered it and it has become a favorite toy. Here is Colby taking the horse out for a ride...

Two boys in the crib...

Here are my two monkeys jumping in the bed. They love bouncing in their cribs and when we go to get one boy up the other wants to get in the crib so they can jump. Hours of entertainment! One of these pictures made me laugh outloud because of the crazed look on their faces. They are wild boys!

Happy 234th Birthday Marine Corps!

As any Marine or family member of a Marine will tell you, today is the Marine Corps 234th Birthday. To all of those who have served in the Marine Corps and those who actively serving...Happy Birthday Marines! Thank you for being 'The Few and The Proud'! Our country is lucky to have the United States Marine Corps to protect it!

And to my most favorite Marine, Jason - I am so proud of you and love you so much. Thank you for showing me what the Marine Corps is all about. You are my hero!!!

In honor of the Birthday we dressed Colby in his Marine shirt that matches Jason (sadly Chasey outgrew his Marine shirt!). Here are a few pictures of the boys. Colby was VERY sleepy in these pictures but still was able to put on a happy face for the camera.

Little Bookworms...

Usually when the boys are too quiet I stumble upon a giant mess or other 'adventure' they've found themselves in. However, on this day...they were reading stories like little angels. Colby absolutely LOVES the 'If You Give a Mouse A Cookie' series (in the pic he's reading 'If You Give a Pig a Pancake') and Chase has recently discovered (and attained the attention span) for books. I'm hoping they will continue their love for reading!

Happy Boys...

The boys and I were hanging out one afternoon and having such a wonderful day, they were so happy and content. One of those days I find myself constantly thanking God that I get to be a mom to these two wonderful boys who have changed my life in so many incredible ways. God is so good! Here are some happy faces to hopefully help you find yours...
