Birthday Packages!

The boys recieved two great birthday packages. One from Grandpa Kenny and the other from Suka's best friend Rose and her family. The boys had a great time opening them...

Chasey loved the fish that Grandpa sent! Good choice and thanks for the bath toys too!

It took Colby forever to open Grandpa's package because
he wanted to read each book one at a time!
He didn't want to tear the paper on Rose's package because it had Thomas the train on it...
As soon as he realized it was a truck he ripped right through it...

Happy 2nd Birthday Colby!!

I can't believe it was 2 years ago today I drank that fateful cup of Castor oil (that memory still makes me gag!) and a few hours later I was in labor with Colby Joshua! The day he was born was so bittersweet, the labor and delivery went smoothly but an hour after he was born he was rushed to the neonatal intensive care unit because he was blue and not oxygenating himself properly. They told me at that time that be may grow up with neurological problems or a seizure disorder resulting from this low oxygenation. It was the most scared I've ever been. I remember looking at him (the largest baby in the ICU at a whopping 8 pounds 4 ounces!) and feeling so vulnerable. When you conceive a baby and go through a pregnancy no one can ever prepare you for how much you will love that baby and how hurt you are if something happens to him. Fortunately he spent a little less than 24 hours in the hospital and was released 4 days after he was born with a clean bill of health. Now his personality has completely emerged, he is a running, talking, loving little boy and we couldn't have asked for more with our first son. Here are his stats...
Weight: 30 pounds 10 ounces (80th percentile)
Height: 35 1/2 inches (75th percentile)
Head Circumference: 19 1/4 inches (65th percentile)
Size: He is wearing size 6 shoes and sandals and size 24 month clothes. He can fit into 18 month shorts because his waist is thinning out.
Likes: Cars, trucks, fire engines, buses, tractors, trains and anything else that moves. He loves m&m's and timeout (not sure how I went wrong on that one...), books, Mr. Potato head (thanks Uncle Rick and Aunt Jan! It's quite the hit!), coloring, drinking milk, shopping (he loves the hand-me-down cart from Aunt Sherri and the Hartmans).
Dislikes: Going down for naps, eating (unless it's watermelon or something sweet, he just doesn't have the time), indoor pools (the noise freaks him out), sharing (we're still working on that)
Motor Skills: He will walk down a few steps with help, he runs, kicks and jumps and enjoys dancing
Speech: There is nothing he won't say! He remembers all the titles of his books and calls them by name, he uses 3 word phrases, knows most every one's names in our family and some friends. When he says no he always says, "no way" (we can thank Jason for that one!) and when I call him "bug-a-boo" he tries to repeat it and says, "booger" which makes me laugh every time! He is very good with his manners and says "please" and "thank you" There is not a day that goes by that he doesn't say or do something that makes us laugh, he has quite the sense of humor!

I just love that little boy and he just loves his "pup" (thanks Pa John and Barbara!! And Chase since that's who they originally gave it to!)

Colby loves his chair that mama and daddy got him! I had no clue he'd enjoy it so much!
(I couldn't decided between these pictures so you get both...)
He loves pushing this truck like a shopping cart,
he will make laps around our house with it like that!

While Colby was busy with the truck Chasey made the most of it and played with Mr. Potato head! They both love that thing!
Next, while Colby was occupied Chase moved on to Colby's chair.
Good thing Chasey gets his own for his birthday!

Colby wrapped up his second birthday snuggling with daddy and a firetruck,
could life get any better?

Some random pictures from the month of August...

Crawling up the stairs for bathtime...

Look what Colby can do, unlock and open the door. Colby won't go outside but Chase will!
They are quite the little duo!

Colby's 2nd Birthday Party...

This picture just sums up the whole day...

Here are a few of the pictures from Colby's train party. It was a smashing success. Thank you to all the family and friends who took time out of their busy schedules to come to Colby's 2nd birthday party! A special thanks to my Auntie Cindy who created the most special and amazing train cake I've ever seen. Colby was absolutely thrilled with it and he continued to talk about it well after the party was over. It made me sick to cut it! She's such an artist!

For the past month I have been singing "Happy Birthday to Colby" so when everyone sang to him he was in heaven! You can't hear it but as soon as we were done Colby said, "Again?" It was the best part of the party in my opinion...

Just another day in the life of the little brother...

Here we are in the parking lot of Sam's Club... Colby was determined to get Chasey closer so he could give him a kiss. Despite the uncomfortable looking position Chase was in he was laughing the whole time. We are so blessed to have such an easy going and very tough baby. It's amazing to think that Colby was designed to have a not much younger brother just as Chase was designed to be the tough, and not so much littler brother. It's crazy moments like these that I realize God is always in control (someone has to be, as you can tell it's sure not me!!!)

Why you never want to go to the store by yourself with mama...

Chase took a micronap today so while Colby was snoozing at home with Daddy I took Chasey to Target. When I only have one kiddo I have time to play around a little more, I was determined to get a picture of Chase in this silly hat! Here are the best of several attempts...

Breakfast at Bama's...

Jason's mom works at the Egg and I, a really good breakfast restaurant. We try to go there once every couple of weeks to visit her and the boys love the food...

Dinner with the Weber side of the family...

Unc and Grandma Diane (or "Bama" as Colby calls her) and Grandma Peggy came over for dinner. Colby ADORES Unc, I don't know what Garret did to get Colby to start his fan club but Colby is crazy about him...

Grandma totally spoils Colby, here he is getting away with picking out all of his own chips (out of the bag!) and dipping them in salsa...

After dinner it was bath time. Here is Chase helping me pick out jammies...

Grandma came to help me give the boys a bath, they love her and find her so entertaining!

After the bath I was taking some pictures of Chasey because he was being so cute with the mirror, I started noticing some red welts on him...
Right before my eyes they got worse and worse and his skin became really hot to the touch...
As you can see it didn't bother him at all...
Than the red spots began to raise up and I knew they were hives...
I called the doctor and by talking to him I was able to figure out it was the cleaner that was used in the bathtub. I gave him some benadryl and they went away. Phew! Of course, while I was on the phone with the doctor Colby started peeing on his bookshelf! Our house is never without adventure!!!

After that excitement we came downstairs to play for a little while...

Colby found Chasey's paci and thought he was being a funny guy by trying to put it in his mouth (he has no clue what to do with it, what a goofball!)

Chasey spent the rest of the evening snuggling with Grandma...

Family Day at the Park...

We took the boys to the park and they had a GREAT time! It will be more fun for Chase once he can walk but overall I think they both had a good time...

Here are the boys on the swings...

Colby LOVES the big boy slide, this is his very excited expression...

Here he is calling, "mama!" and "Chasey!" because he wanted us to go down the slide too!

Eventhough Colby is almost two he is still not very confident about going up and down stairs, he doesn't even attempt to walk up them...until today. Something about this staircase gave him the confidence and he walked up the stairs all by himself!

...followed by Chasey, that little baby is fearless!
Colby is CRAZY about slides...

Chasey is content for now on the swings...

The unstopable Chasey...

Chase is such a more mobile baby than Colby was. It has been really hard for me to get used to. He loves to be near me and enjoys being held but when he's ready to get down he'll throw himself towards the floor, sometimes it's like a wrestling match! He loves exploring his world as long as Jason and I are nearby...
Here is our little stairmaster...

He loved playing with his old booster seat, who would have thought?

This is why we can't just prop up some toys to keep Chase out of certain areas, it worked with Colby but Chase doesn't see obstacles, he sees adventures!

Cool new high chairs...

Colby's booster seat was recalled so we decided to get rid of the cheapies and get some really fun booster seats. I just love these ones, the boys look like they're on a roller coaster with their feet dangling. They like them too! They are canvas material but I can just unsnap it and throw it in the washing machine! You know you're a mom when you get this excited over a booster seat!

A Quiet Moment...

Things have been so hectic at our house lately that I have been cherishing those few quiet moments. The other day Chasey just couldn't fall asleep in his crib so I picked him up and snuggled him for awhile. Sometimes I get so busy and take time for granted, I forget that he is still just a baby. I am trying to make the most of these special times and hold them in my heart on days when things aren't quite so quiet :)

Yummy Pasta!

Pasta is a favorite meal at my house, here are a few pictures of the boys enjoying it to the fullest! You'll also be able to notice why every dinner meal involves both kids
being stripped down to diapers!
