The birthplace of Pepsi

For those of you that didn't know, Jason and I are fortunate enough to live here in New Bern, NC. The birthplace of Pepsi Cola! This was Colby's first trip to the shop where it was actually invented. Now...doesn't that make everyone want to come visit?

Weber family at the beach!

Colby's Sunnies

Good thing my mom sent some sunnies for Colby in her last package. He really needed them at the beach!

Checking out Aunty Laura

Colby really was taking her in. Kiwi was giving Colby a dirty look because she thought she owned that lap. Laura did such a good job of spoiling Kiwi while she was here that she has been sulking since she left! Kiwi loves her Aunty Laura too!

Waking up Colby style

I sware he did have jammies on at one point but between spit up and cheap diapers they never manage to stay on until morning.

Lunch at Captain Ratty's

We always take company here for the tasty food, Colby dressed for the occassion in his handsome overalls. It is so fun now that he can actually fit into his pants, he is a real boy now!

Painting pottery with Aunty Laura

Colby just loved staring at Aunty Laura. And for someone who wasn't very comfortable with kids and babies she really did a great job with Colby!

Bath time is so relaxing!

Colby usually hates getting out of the bath but last night he was in such a good mood and was so relaxed that he didn't mind...you've got to love all of those chins, so many places to kiss!

Happy 1 month birthday Colby!

As Colby's 1 month birthday present we decided to finally let Colby try the pacifier. He seems to like it!

Check out those rolls!

Colby loves his bathtime! I can't believe how big he's getting, just look at those arm rolls!

Check out those cheeks!

Colby developed his fisrt stuffy nose on Friday, September 22. I waited as long as I could but finally on Monday the 24th I decided to bring him to the doctor. The doctor checked him out and said everything looks great and contributed the stuffy nose to either a little cold or the result of several spit up events that seem to be happening all the time. He was again shocked by his weight gain...a whopping 10 pounds 12 ounces! What can I say the boy loves to eat! We love our pediatrician. He is a really great Christian man. He was checking Colby's circumcision and said, "My work looks good here but don't you go showing it off to just anyone! Save it for your wife!" It is nice knowing Colby is in such great hands. Dr. Philips always goes above and beyond at our appointments. He not only asks about Colby's growth and general well being but asks about ours as well. He reminds Jason and I to take out time with each other. What a great doctor!

Colby's secret weapon

In the past few days Colby has figured out a surefire way to get mommy's attention and sympathy. Ahhhh...the power of the lower lip!

Our little chick magnet

Half Smile

Everyday we get a little closer to capturing that smile on film!

Sleep smiles

We're still on a quest to capture his smile on film! I can't wait until he gets camera trained!

Nap Time!

You've got to love the rolls in his thighs! Sleeping is the only time I can keep his socks on!

Colby helping mommy fold laundry

It's official, I have spoiled him rotten. He likes to be held all the time. I was folding laundry when I realized he fell asleep in my arms so I layed him down in the crib. It was his first sleep in his big boy crib! (Right now he sleeps next to our bed in a smaller crib). It only lasted about 10 minutes but it was nice to have two arms to do things with even if it was just for a moment. Look at how he's busting out of that onsie (and check out those Spinder legs too!) I can't believe how fast he's growing!

Jason is a comfy pillow

Jason must be very comfy to lay on! Although to Kiwi it doesn't matter how much room there is, a lap is a lap!

Colby loves his rattle!

Jason and I brought out a rattle today and Colby loved it! We were getting all sorts of smiles. These were the best I could capture on film though.

Two tired boys

After a very stressful day of interviewing and being circumcised Colby passed out with daddy (who had just worked 24 hours straight). I love how Colby is resting his little hand on Jason's forearm!

Colby's big day

September 14th was a big day for Colby and Ashley. I had two interveiws and unfortunately Jason had to work so Colby went with me. Thankfully they were very understanding, eventhough I had to nurse him in the middle of one of them! After that we went on our first mommy-son date to Panera and than we headed to the pediatrician for his circumcision. That part was terrible! He cried and cried. I am so happy it is overwith! This picture was taken after he cried himself to sleep at the pediatricians office as we were getting ready to check out. He is wearing these super cute doggie booties. They are way to big but are the only things that will stay on his feet! He looked so handsome!

Happy Baby

Hanging out with mommy

We sure do miss Daddy when he has to work. We fill the time taking lots and lots of pictures. Here we are getting ready for bathtime. Check out those chins!

Colby's first doctor appointment

This was Colby's 10 day appointment with Dr. Phillips. We love his pediatrician. He takes great care of Colby. They expect babies to be at their birthweight by 14 days and breastfed babies often take longer to get back to that weight...not our little champion! Colby was up an ounce from his birthweight at this appointment!

Colby loves bath time!

Bath time is Colby's favorite time of day. Sometimes he will even fall asleep in the sink! The only time he cries is when I take him out. I love bathtime too! For about 10 minutes afterwards he will smell so fresh and clean. It usually doesn't last long though since he is a bit of a spitup king!

Aunt Laura M.visits Colby

Laura got here on September 5th and was able to stay for a week. Colby had a great time getting to know her and I enjoyed having some girl time! She was such a big help!

Colby and his guard dog

Kiwi has really adapted well to Colby. Sometimes he will accidentaly pet her, as soon as he touches her she leans into him. It is really cute!

All because two people fell in love

It is hard to believe that it was just a little over a year ago that we exchanged these rings. Isn't it amazing what love can create?

Baby feet

Sometimes I get so caught up in the fact that Colby is a big baby I forget how tiny he really is.

Colby's first blowout

Jason and I learned the hard way - never go anywhere without the diaper bag! We had to run out of the mall with a very stinky baby. It didn't seem to bother Colby one bit!

Chilling with daddy

Colby in a softball glove

When I was pregnant I had this picture in my head of a cute birth announcement picture - my tiny newborn in a baseball glove. I had no idea I would give birth to an 8 pound baby!

Home Sweet Home

Colby and Daddy

After having to wrestle with all of the cords when he was in the NICU it felt so good to just hold Colby without any wires.

Felix our giant cat!

It is hard to really get an idea of jst how big he is but here is our 19 pound cat. The pretty bow is from Bob, he thought he was such a handsome kitty with that on!

Colby's first outing

After a long stressful 4 days we were all very hungry so on the way home from the hospital we stopped at one of our favorite restaurants, Olive Garden. Colby was a dream baby and slept the whole time. We even got extra breadsticks because, the waitress said, "he's such a cute baby!" We have to agree with her!

Finally Headed Home!

It was a long journey but 4 days after Colby was born we were finally able to take him home. It felt so good to get out of that hospital.

Colby in a healthy baby bassinette!

We took this when Colby was finally allowed to room in with us. It was the first time we actually got to see him in natural light. The NICU didn't have windows. We could not stop staring at him.

Colby, happy in Bob's arms
