Budding musician

Colby was getting a little fussy but stopped instantly when Daniel started playing the piano. Not only does Colby love it but so does my mom, it's a great incentive to get the boys to practice their piano!

Reading books

Colby had a blast reading stories with Suska and Uncle D.

Rolling...FINALLY!!!!

The pediatrician couldn't hide her concern that Colby was a 19 pound 3 ounce 6 month old that was not rolling in either direction yet. So...I was thrilled when my mom and I spent a few intense training moments with Colby and he got mad enough to launch himself over. That was only yesterday and now as soon as he wakes up from a nap in his crib he is rolling himself over. It happened in a blink and he already does it so well you would think he has been doing it for the past 2 months (like he should have been!).

Hooray! Solids!

Finally we got to start solid foods! I was so anticipating this day. Colby actually did better with it than I thought he would. He was smiling the whole time and actually swallowed a few bites. It was messy but so much fun. It is so amazing to watch your child experience a new part of the world. I just wish Jason could have been here to see it too.

Cousin time!

Colby and Caleb got to spend some time together this past weekend. It was so much fun! This was the first time that they really seemed to notice each other. We tried to get their picture taken together but that was a disaster. Of course when we got home they played together beautifully (if only they could have done that for the photographer!), so we had to take some home pictures. I love the picture where Colby is grabbing on to Caleb's hand. Caleb wasn't quite sure what to think of that, he kept pulling his hand away. It was so funny! Melissa and Dustin's house is under contract so hopefully Melissa will move to New Mexico and we will be seeing the Kelsey family more often. I'm saying lots of prayers!

Time with Grandpa

Kenny was in town for a few days and it just happened to overlap with the time we were here so we got to get together for a few hours. Colby seemed to recognize Kenny and was instantly comfortable with him...too comfortable in fact, he kept falling asleep on him!

Colby's first hockey game

Jason was a star hockey athlete during high school and always asked me to go watch his games but I never did (something I will regret forever!!). I didn't want to make the same mistakes with my cousins so we went to Nick's hockey game than we went to Jake's. I forgot my camera for Jake's game and I'm so bummed I did because he had a mohawk shaved on his head and I have to admit it was the cutest mohawk I've ever seen! Colby seemed to tolerate the noise ok and really loved watching the players skate back and forth.

Uncle D's basketball game

Colby loves watching basketball on tv so I was curious to see how he liked watching it in person. He loved it! Eventhough the whistles and buzzers were really loud he still seemed to enjoy it. And even though Daniel forgot his basketball shoes he still played really well!

Colby in Colby

We had to stop and take a few pictures in Colby, Kansas. I was in such a hurry to get home that I didn't even stop at the Colby visitor center. I figure...he will have his name forever and I'm sure we'll have plenty of other opportunities to stop.

Visiting with Anna

When we were in Kansas City I was fortunate enough to meet with Anna for a few hours. She is expecting her first baby, Noah, in April. It was great to see her. (I was trying desperately to get Colby to smile in the last picture...it worked but I look like a fool!)

Family dinner

After traveling through Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois and the beginning of Missouri we were all tuckered out. Jerry was kind enough to treat us to a dinner at Olive Garden. It was delicious! As we were getting up to leave Colby waived 'bye bye'! It was so perfect, probably a total accident but we thought he was a genious! (he hasn't done it since)

Hard at work unpacking...

Here is the giant mess we created in Bob's basement...

While I was trying to find a place for everything Jason helped out with Chase, both needed a little shut eye to catch up after the long road trip...Now that is talent...sleeping while still maintaining a hold on the paci, good work daddy!

Sleepy time

The hotels were all great about having cribs for Colby and he was so exhausted he slept like a rock! It was all that swimming no doubt!

First Swim

Colby is a total water baby so I could hardly wait to get him in the pool. It was snowing outside though and that cold pool felt pretty chilly so I decided to try the hot tub instead. Eventhough Colby loves his baths really warm the hot tub was a little too hot to get all the way in but he loved it anyway. I can't wait for this summer. The only issue will be his fair skin, he will burn so easily. His uncles were also having a great time in the pool.

Room to stretch out...

After spending all day in the car and traveling through North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia and part of Kentucky, Colby was thrilled to have a little room to stretch out. If only I could get him to have these great smiles when I took him in to get his 6 month pictures taken!
