Chase is 10 months old!
I can't believe he is 10 months old already. It's hard to imagine that last year at this time I was 7 months pregnant with an 11 month old! WOW, has life gotten easier! Here are a few updates on my little Chase love...
Motor Skills: He is still doing the army/worm crawl but boy is he getting fast! I found him standing in his crib last week and now he pulls himself up on everything! He also started cruising (using furniture to walk) yesterday and he has attempted to climb up the stairs once or twice. This is such a hugh change for me since Colby didn't even start crawling until he was 11 months old. Chase is a very mobile baby!
Speech: Jason is very pleased to report that he says "dada" now. He loves waving hi and bye bye and waves by opening and closing his hand, so cute!
Food: This boy loves to eat! (As if you couldn't tell from these rolls!) He is not picky one bit and will eat anything. He usually eats oatmeal with flax and banana in the morning, snacks on goldfish and animal crackers throughout the day, eats some cheese and a sandwich for lunch and has dinner of some sort of protein and pasta. He doesn't eat any baby foods anymore. He does so well with solids. His favorite foods include yogurt and watermelon but this kid will literally eat anything offered to him. I am sad to report he has almost completely weaned himself. He just doesn't have the patience or attention span for nursing anymore. I have a bunch of stored milk so my goal is to at least make it through the next month without supplementing. I am heart broken but I am just trying to remind myself that every kid is different and Chase is just not a nurser like Colby was. He will occassionally nurse before bed but even that is hit and miss, sad! :(
Sleep: He is taking one nap a day, it usually lasts about 2 hours and he goes down around 8pm and wakes up around 8am. He doesn't even cry when it's time to lay down, he's been so easy that way.
Play: He loves chewing on the diaper ointment tube (yuck!) and loves the leapfrog learning table because he can pull himself up on it and play with it. He adores the truck that Pa John and Barbara got Colby for his birthday last year and when I sit him on it he can actually propel himself (he only goes backwards for now but he's getting the idea). He also loves the rocking horse. Even when he was in my belly he was a baby in motion, constantly moving, and that continues now! While he likes to be on the go he loves to be held and has been a bit of a mama's boy these days. Another thing he loves doing is blowing rasberries! I've never seen a baby do that before but he gets such a kick out of it, anytime he sees open skin he goes right for it and blows a big rasberry, what a funny baby! We just enjoy him more every single day. Colby started calling him Chasey so that has kind of become his new name (he couldn't be Chase baby forever!). He is such a little love and adores his big brother. What an amazing addition to our family he's been!

Colby is 23 months old!!!
I can't believe he's almost 2! Here is an update on what Colby has been up to these days...
Motor Skills - He doesn't walk anywhere anymore, he runs! He has finally figured out how to climb up on the couch and he thinks he is such hot stuff! He will sometimes try to walk up the stairs but still prefers to crawl (he moves much faster that way). He knows how to jump and kick a ball. He still will only go down one or two steps if he's holding our hand (he'll say, "hand" and reach up for it, I think it's so cute!) but if there are more than a few steps he'll just ask to be held (by saying, "hold you?") and won't even attempt it. I love the healthy fear he has of stuff like that, we don't even have to have baby gates up because we know he won't attempt it. Chase on the other hand is completely opposite, so it's taken some getting used to!
Speech - This age is so fun!!! I have been trying to write down all of the words he says in the right context and clearly enough for me to understand but every time I turn around he says something new! It's so exciting. Here is the list I have going but I'm sure I'm leaving off quite a few:Car, bus, train, happy, ball, baseball, kitty, doggie, shower, hat, home, mess, color, juicy (what he calls his juice plus vitamins), toast, O's, blue, two, milk, wipey, poop, diaper, trash, purse, keys, picture, project, truck, shoes, elmo, hammer, uh oh, M&M, watermelon, toast, peas, drink, cheese, ba ba (for Chase's bottles), hug, chair, plane, hot, birthday, bird, cookie, fish, hop hop (for bunnies), hand, seriously, circle, outta here, again, clean, bath, book, hold you, done, hi, bye bye, sad, cry, help, eat, hungie (for hungry), outside, icky, stinky, burpies, shirt, shorts, baby, girl, boy, back, shut, off, candy, feet, leg, toes, head, neck, cheek, teeth, ear, couch, vacuum, nana (for bananas), eye, beep beep, honk honk, pup, up, ladder, peanut, snake, hurt, gross, wheel, pepper, salt, flower. He also knows the names of everyone we see on a regular basis. He surprises me daily by saying a word, articulated perfectly and pointing at it. I know it's something every child does and a phase all adults have been through but as a mom it is the most miraculous thing. I love that I can have a conversation with him now and we understand each other.
Food: He is a picky toddler now but here are a few of the foods I can get him to eat...watermelon, goldfish, peas, chicken, veggie burgers, toast, cheerios, pasta, cheese.
Sleep: He still takes a nap in the afternoon (anywhere from 2-3 hours) and sleep about 11 hours straight at night.
Play: He is still completely obsessed with cars, trucks, trains and planes. He loves pushing his cars or wagon full of cars around the kitchen. He is also obsessed with the vacuum! He loves it, the noise scares him but at the same time he is amazed by it. He has the same weird obsession with the lawn mower. He has discovered coloring and it's become one of his favorite things to do. He loves to be outdoors, my mom planted some trees in our yard that we are watering daily and he loves it. He loves to hold the hose, to sit in the grass, to dig in the dirt, to play with the rocks...everything about being outside. He loves it when I sing to him, lately 'happy birthday' and the 'ABC's' have become his favorite songs. Another favorite past time is to take the silverware out of the drawer and disperse it though out the house, I have no clue where this comes from!
He has so much personality and it's emerging more and more each day. It's been really amazing to watch this little person emerge. He is shy and timid but when he's in an environment that he feels comfortable he makes himself at home by talking and running around like a crazy man. He is not really a mama's boy or a daddy's boy he loves us both equally. He loves his little brother and as soon as he gets up in the morning or from a nap he asks for him. If Chase is still in bed he'll run into Chase's room and get him up. Colby loves to be held, hugged and kissed and is very affectionate. What a blessing he is for Jason, Chase and I!

Future Baseball Player....
I took the boys to the baseball game yesterday. I was curious to see how they would do but they loved it. They both love being outside and Colby actually enjoyed watching the big boys play and of course, running around...
Checking out the game...
Chase was content just chillin' in the stroller. It cracks me up, lately he has been putting his feet up on the tray instead of letting them dangle down, he is a kid that can appreciate comfort! Aunty Ling (who always spoils the boys!) stopped by the game brought along some really awesome books. The boys read them all the way home. Thanks Aunty!

Some Sandi Pics...
It's always fun to check my memory card after I've been working for a few days. Sandi is so great about picking the camera up and taking some pictures when the boys are being funny. Here are a few that made me laugh out loud...
Look at that handsome boy, chipped tooth and all!
Big kisses for brother (I love Chase's expression in this picture, he just adores Colby and loves getting attention from him)

Happy 4th of July!
We had a really busy 4th of July so I wasn't able to take nearly as many pictures as I would have liked but here are a few of the ones I was able to snap...
Bob Bob, Suska and Colby
Aunty Cindy, Sami and Chase
(Chase wasn't quite feeling himself, as you can see. He had just woken up from a nap and the day before he scratched himself a good one by his eye, poor baby!)

Chase's 9 Month Well Check...
Chase had his 9 month well check and everything checked out GREAT! He was performing all of his tricks (ie: waving, getting up on all 4's, standing with support, and being a giant cheeseball) for the doctor. The doctor was impressed by how little sleep Chase functions on and classified his 10 hours at night and one 2 hour nap as on the "very low end of normal". But he such a happy baby that he really didn't see it as a problem. Here are the stats...
Weight: 22 pounds 11 ounces - 80th percentile
(crazy to think 20% of all babies weigh more than he does huh?)
Height: 28 and 3/4 inches - 65th percentile
Head: 18 and 1/4 inches - 80th percentile
Our happy 9 month old...
Chase up on all 4's (he'll occasionally try to crawl from this position but still does his army crawl and boy does he go fast!). In the background you can see Colby trying to make his escape...Weight: 22 pounds 11 ounces - 80th percentile

What a good daddy, here is Jason getting caught up on his Parenting magazine reading...

When Colby is being disciplined he raises his eyebrows back at us. It's so hard to keep my bearing when he stares back at me like this!

Bass Pro Shop Adventures...
We had so much fun camping Jason wanted to get some of his own fishing supplies. We took the boys to Bass Pro Shop, here are a few pictures...
Chase thought everything was fabulous! There were so many new things to see there!
I thought this giant fish was hillarious, as you can see the boys could have cared less. Once Colby saw the remote control car he didn't care to see anything else. Who would have thought to make such a giant fish pillow? I laughed so hard when I saw it that if either of the boys showed an ounce of interest in it I probably would have bought it!
Here they are looking at the giant fish tank with some of the biggest fish I've ever seen. I thought it was so cute how Colby put his arm around his brother...
This picture cracked me up when I looked back at it, it's like the moose is saying,
"oh geez, here we go again!"
