Zoo Day

Children's offers employees discounted zoo tickets so we decided to take the boys to the zoo. I think I was more excited than anyone in the family but we all had a great time. Seeing such amazing animals really reminded me how awesome God is. It was so fun to get to enjoy a few of his spectacular creations. It was especially neat to watch Colby take in this entirely new experience. Chase just loved to be outside in the stroller and eat snacks so he enjoyed it even though he had no idea what was going on!

Colby wanted to hold all of the small, furry animals. Here he is reaching out for them...
Colby loved to see the lions. He was making his growling noises...
I don't know why he thought it was necessary to knock on the glass or where he even got that idea, fortunately his tiny knock didn't disturb the snoozing lion...

Here he is trying to get into the area with the Hyenas...

Snacks...the key to happy boys.

Chase's puzzled look, he wasn't quite sure what to think of these new sights and sounds...
The baboon yawned, check out those teeth!
Here he was checking out the boys...
This monkey found the boys especially interesting. She was just resting up against the glass watching the visitors. It was so neat to get so close.
This black bear cracked us up, he was just chillin' in the tree...
Penguins are so cute!
Rhinos are not...
Neither are camels...
Colby, our little car fanatic, was more interested in following the golf cart that was collecting the trash than seeing the elephants...
The peacocks are so beautiful...
Colby watched the seals swimming for quite awhile. He wasn't sure what to think. He kept making his fish noise, I guess they're kind of like fish?
Right after I took this picture that tall giraffe in the backround decided to lay down. That is the most awkward thing. To watch this giant, tall animal fold himself down to the ground.
Sure was entertaining though!
All this zoo excitement tuckered Chase out, he snoozed about half the time...

This looks like so much fun! I need to take Noah sometime; I think he'd love all the animals. The shot of the camel reminded me of when I was at the KC Zoo with a friend a couple months back. She had her 3-year-old grandson with her, and boy did he have questions about why the camels were "playing piggyback" when we saw them! :D

I swear every time I go to the zoo ... that orangutan is ALWAYS sitting at that window, in that exact spot!
