Starting on Sunday Colby woke up with a runny nose and fever. Chase had a super high fever on Monday and Tuesday so were were up all night giving him Tylenol. (Poor Jason, I had to wake him up from the dead of sleep and ask him to get the tylenol. In his sleepy stupor he spilled the tylenol all over the carpet and furniture. We now know that tylenol is the stickiest substance known to mankind!) Tuesday evening Colby fell and cut open his bottom lip (his teeth went through the inside of it and he got a good cut on the outside), it was the bloodiest injury he's had yet. By Wednesday Chase's fever had gone away but the congestion was just awful. I must have suctioned him 15 times that night. Than on Thursday evening Colby woke up from his nap with a jagged front tooth again. The filling fell out for the second time! It didn't seem to be bothering him though so I thought we were in for a good night of sleep. Jason went to a friend's house for a little guy time. I put Colby down at 7:30 and Chase down at 9:00. I went to bed at 10:00. At midnight Chase was up to be fed, I got him back down around 12:30. At 1:50am Colby started shrieking out in pain. I tried everything but couldn't figure out what was causing him such pain. He was writhing and crying. It was awful. Jason got home around 2 and was shocked to see Chase sleeping quietly in his crib and Colby trying to get comfortable in bed with me. We tried giving him a bottle, reading him stories, laying down with him, rocking him, letting him play (what do you know...he chose to play with the popcorn poper, the LOUDEST toy he owns. He started pushing it and just started bawling again), even feeding him, nothing worked. Finally at 2:45am I had to put him in his crib and let him cry. He finally grew quiet and fell asleep around 3...just about the time Chase woke up to be fed again. Colby had another crying episode at 4am and again at 6 when I finally just got up with him. He was super uncomfortable this morning but has taken two really long naps and seems to be getting better this afternoon. The challenges are never ending and we're definitely sleep deprived but I still wouldn't trade being a mom for anything in the world!
Here are a few pictures of Colby's banged up lip. It is looking much better than it did. I haven't taken any new ones since he lost the filling though, his whole mouth just looks like a wreck now.

I am so sorry about Colby. His poor little mouth! What a trooper - his lip must hurt :( Hopefully things will start getting better soon. Hang in there!
