Marine Corps Ball

These first pictures are of the ceremony. It was very inspiring to see these decorated Marines perform a traditional ceremony. The cake was cut with the long NCO sword and a piece is given to the oldest and youngest Marine present to symbolize the passing of experience. Later in the ceremony the oldest Marine was speaking and he said he always carries a vial of sand with him, even when he PT's (exercises). It contains sand from Iwo Jima and helps him remember why he's doing what he's doing. He gave a second vial to the youngest Marine (talk about goosebumps!). By the end of the ceremony I was feeling better about leaving Colby (thanks to two glasses of wine) and we actually enjoyed our date night.
